People who get benefits from Social Security will get their $1200 stimulus payment directly from the IRS. If you get benefits from Social Security and you have children under age 17, you MUST register as a non-filer with the IRS to get the $500 stimulus payments for your children.

If you get Social Security Disability, Survivor, Retirement or Railroad benefits from Social Security, YOU MUST REGISTER BY NOON ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2020. People who get SSI have a little longer, but should register as soon as possible.

The IRS will only issue one stimulus payment to each adult. If the IRS does not know about your children when they issue your payment, the $500 payment per child will not be included.

If you do not report your dependents by tomorrow’s deadline, you will have to wait until you file your 2020 taxes to get the $500 credit.
