Earned Income Tax Credit Project Print

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Project offers free tax preparation to low and moderate income residents of Butler, Hamilton and Clermont Counties. Our goal is simple: to ensure that people file their taxes, take advantage of all the credits for which they are eligible and do not pay outrageous filing fees to commercial tax preparers.

The IRS estimates that, each year, thousands of our residents do not file income taxes.  Many of these residents are low and moderate-income workers who may be eligible for thousands of dollars of credits.  For example, a working family with two or more children that files a tax return for 2009 may be eligible for up to $5,657 in EITC.

Volunteer Tax Preparers who have been trained by the IRS will prepare tax returns and file them electronically, so the filer can expect a quick refund.

How Can I Help?

We need volunteers to make this campaign a success.  We have a variety of volunteer opportunities: Tax Preparer, Greeter/Screener, Computer Specialist, Site Coordinator, and Tax Expert.

Tax Preparation sites will be located throughout the Hamilton, Butler and Clermont counties. Sites will be open on Saturdays and some weekday and evening hours   throughout the tax season (hours TBA). Although some sites will have appointments available, most filers will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis.
